Description


In order to meet the country's needs of qualified people in the field of English, the English language division was established in 1997 within the language Department of the academy, and in 2006 it became an independent department when the language school was founded. The department currently offers an applied linguistics program where students study courses on the nature of the English language and how to teach it. The Department's teaching is based on lectures, discussions, research, in addition to studying, students attend and participate in seminars and workshops organized by the Academy in their field of specialization. Students of the department were also sent to training courses to Britain to enhance language skills and skills of dealing with other cultures, but this has now been temporarily stopped due to the circumstances in the country and graduates of the Department have job opportunities, the most important of which is teaching at institutes and universities. The Department grants a high Bachelor's degree (master's) in teaching English.

The department aims to provide the community with specialists in the field of English language education, learning and scientific research in this field.

Message


The Department of English seeks to provide integrated education and training in English and Applied Linguistics, and is also interested in developing students ' language skills and providing them with scientific, practical and critical thinking skills to meet the requirements of the labor market. The department also seeks to encourage effective communication between cultures while adhering to their cultural and ethical identity.

Goals


  1. Preparing professors capable of teaching English to fill the shortage of Libyan institutes and universities.
  2. Preparing qualified graduates in the field of English to do jobs that require English language skills in various state institutions.
  3. Encourage the study of linguistic issues and problems and try to find solutions to them.
  4. Developing scientific research skills in the use and teaching of the English language.
  5. Developing the knowledge and skills of the Department's faculty members and informing them of the latest developments in the field of English language education.
